Important Notes for Drivers: How to Prepare & Read Your Result Sheet
Understanding Your Examiner's Scoring Codes
During your driving test, the examiner uses specific codes to mark your performance. Here is how to decode your result sheet:
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| (OK) | Manoeuvre was satisfactory. |
| (✓✓) | Some improvement necessary. |
| (*) | Lack of skill, knowledge, or judgment. |
| (R) | Unsafe action at a railway (R.R.) crossing. |
| (//) | This manoeuvre was not performed. |
Important Note: Items that have been scored more than once require your special attention. These items may indicate an incorrect driving habit or an improper understanding of the correct method.
Understanding Your Results
IF YOU PASSED
Study the items scored on the reverse side. Any one of these errors could involve you in a collision. In your own interest, we strongly advise you to correct any faults and become a safer driver.
IF YOU DID NOT PASS
It may have been for any one of the following reasons:
- Preventable Collision
- Dangerous Action
- Traffic Law Violation
- Inadequate Skill To Complete Test
- Too many driving errors
Note on errors: Accumulating too many driving errors may be due to a lack of driving skills or knowledge, errors in judgment, or unsafe driving habits.
Vehicle Checklist: Out-of-Order Conditions
Your road test appointment will be placed Out-of-Order if, but not limited to, one of the following items is detected prior to or during the test:
Non-functional headlights or taillights (darkness or limited visibility)
Roof down and/or unsecured (convertible vehicle)
Non-functional brake light
Objects obstructing vision
Low tire pressure
Non-functional turn signals
Non-functional windshield wipers or no washer fluid
No rear bumper
Damaged windshield obstructing the driver's view
Vehicle equipped with an Ignition Interlock Device but licence condition missing
Unsecured muffler
Unsecured vehicle parts
Unsecured contents
Ignition Interlock Device not installed when required
Special permit or altered vehicle plate
Invalid sticker or expired 10-day permit
Inability to provide a breath sample during a rolling retest
Non-functional or missing door(s)
Non-functional dual brake
Non-functional or missing seat belt
Non-functional defroster/defogger*
Non-functional horn or speedometer
Missing or unsecured seat
Vehicle will not start or stalls more than three times
Obvious fuel leaks
Flammable goods or compressed gas
Flat tire or temporary tire
More than one missing wheel nut per wheel
Audible air leak
Passenger(s) or pet(s) in the vehicle
Other safety defects
